July 27 The day you went awayThe moment I saw you reading that English-version machine learning textbook at the Huachu book store in China many years ago, I realized instantly that this ppmm was cut out for a Ph.D. abroad. Coincidently, my hunch got approved a few weeks later in a gadget-hunting rendezvous. Sometimes you have to admit that life is really amazing, and I cannot imagine how small the world is. Born in the same city, graduated from the same high school and college, and flied to the same city in a faraway land called America, what are the odds!
Now you got your long-awaited degree, and is about to leave this city we both love. Cliches of beatitude seem inadequate for life-time brother-and-sister like us. I just hope this letter finds you, and finds you well in your new world.
As to me, I am simply longing to see that figure again in the book store at Carnegie Mellon, reading that machine learning book ... Comments (28)
